One big whine

I'm having a hard time blogging lately. I can't seem to think of things to blog about. But I think I've diagnosed the cause - it's just too darn hot! I discovered this at 7:00 am this morning when it was already 80 degrees outside. I usually don't mind the summertime, but right now its just too hot, there's nothing but reruns on TV, and I'm ready to go to Las Vegas in September. So I guess I'm just gonna whine about it here.

For those of you who are already shopping for Christmas presents, the Christmas in July section at A Wonderful World will only be available for 2 more days. 25% off regular prices. You can also find cards and notepads featuring my photos that make perfect stocking stuffers.

Stay cool!

...and with it, the Christmas in July sale at A Wonderful World. Everything in that section is 25% off, but only through the end of July. So hurry in and stock up early for Christmas!

Now at A Wonderful World, you can purchase any 3 prints of the same size for the price of two. It's like getting one for free! Make your own grouping of three butterflies, frame a triptych of tractors, or find prints to give as gifts.

Hooray, the weekend's nearly here! What do you have planned?

For me, it's Once A Month Cooking, which we started 2 months ago and is absolutely fabulous! I spend a few hours on a Saturday using every pot & pan I own, but practically no cooking or grocery shopping for the rest of the month. It's fabulous. You can find some recipes here.

Next on the agenda, The Dark Knight! Yes, we're the only two people on the planet that haven't seen it yet, and we are looking forward to it. We haven't been to the movies in forever.

Other than that, I'm hoping to take it easy, and of course make more things available at A Wonderful World. You see, my sister is getting married in October. I am her matron of honor, and I swear every weekend between now and then is booked with wedding stuff, starting last weekend when I heat embossed 200 thank you tags, and continuing next Saturday with the shower I am hosting. The theme is "Bling Bling Bridal", and I ordered cupcakes today. It should be fun. But I belong to her until October!

It is so hot and humid here, I can hardly even type. I thought this photo would cool everybody off!

I put my first ACEO on A Wonderful World. It's of one of my more popular photos, "Rhino Love":

Are you familiar with ACEOs? I wasn't until I started selling on etsy. It stands for Artist Cards, Editions and Originals. It's collectible pocket art, and the only rule is that is measures 2.5 in x 3.5 in. All you scrapbookers are probably familiar with them as Artist Trading Cards (ATCs), which are only traded, not sold. You can find out more here:

And in other news...

Made this card available...

And in this cute cowgirl treasury.

Tomorrow is Friday. See y'all then!

Something New

I worked hard all weekend, and I have something to show for it! I'm now offering on A Wonderful World, note card featuring some of my more popular photos. Each 5x7 card is made of cardstock, and the 4x6 photo is matted on a colored cardstock coordinated with the photo. A matching envelope is included with each card. This is the first one available:

and I'll be adding more soon. If you see a photo that you would like as a card, convo me on etsy and I'll set up a special listing for you. Leave a comment here and let me know what you think of the cards.

I'm also listing new photos all the time, so check out the shop to see what's new!

Have you ever won anything? I have. I won a ceramic Easter egg at a church luncheon one time. And I won a cruise, but my sister put my name in the drawing because she was too young to be eligible, so I don't know if that counts really. The first time my future husband and I went to Las Vegas, it seemed like I won every game I touched. But I knew to quit while I was ahead, so we didn't exactly come back millionaires.

Alot of times, I feel like I'm not lucky at all. But then I look around at all I have, my family, my husband, my cat, and I see that I really am lucky after all.

My husband successfully grilled steak this weekend without burning down the house! You see, he's never grilled before. We bought a gas grill 2 weeks ago, and this was the first chance we had to use it. He grilled 2 steaks, potatoes, and peaches, and he did an excellent job. And I didn't even have to use the fire extinguisher! It was a proud moment in our household.

I LOVE France. It's a tremendous inspiration for my creativity. And today is Bastille Day! So to honor this holiday, here's a special offer for A Wonderful World. Today only, get 50% off everything in the store. That's right, everything, including photos in the Christmas in July section. Use the code BASTILLEDAY.

Here's how this works. Put your item in your cart and complete the etsy check out. In your notes to seller, enter your code, as well as the size print you are ordering. DO NOT PAY WITH PAYPAL. Wait until I send you a revised Paypal invoice, which will reflect the 50% discount.

Happy Bastille Day, especially to the French readers out there!

I think I've somewhat recovered after all of yesterday's drama. At least, I don't think that every piece of cat hair that flies by is a giant bug out to get me. Thanks to everyone for your moral support!

I put up a couple of new photos the last couple of days at wonderfulworld.etsy.com:

Check out the blog on Monday. I'll be celebrating Bastille Day, and you'll have the opportunity to purchase photos for 50% off the lowest price.

I HATE roaches!!! I cannot stress to you enough how I despise these vermin. They are disgusting and whenever I see one, dead or alive, I climb on top of whatever piece of furniture is nearby and scream like a girl (OK, I am a girl, but you get the picture). So imagine the scene just a few minutes ago when, sitting at my computer at work, innocently surfing the internet, I feel a tickle on my sandal-clad naked heel. I look down and THERE IS A ROACH ON MY BARE FOOT!!!!!!!! Luckily I am the only one in the office right now, or I'm sure my coworkers would have thought I was being attacked by wildcats or something. A few minutes later (after a tearful phone call to my husband), I get up to go to the ladies room, and there is ANOTHER ONE near death behind my chair.

Now, you may tell me, "Jody, this one was at least in its death throws. That has to be some comfort." But you would be wrong. The only way I can be in the same room with a roach is if I don't lay eyes on it. Putting to work my ninja skills, I finished this one off with a broom. Isn't there some sort of hazard pay I'm entitled to for this? Can I use my sick leave to go home and sterilize my foot and drink a bottle of wine to calm my nerves? At least can we fire the company that sprays for bugs here?

Twice in One Day!

Wow, look, I've blogged twice in one day. It must be some kind of record!

Seriously, I just put together a Treasury on etsy. It's all about Coney Island and there's a bunch of cool stuff from cool people, so check it out! http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list_west.php?room_id=15642

WooHoo!

One of my newest photos from yesterday is in a beautiful etsy treasury!

Such a Slacker

I feel like such a slacker for ignoring the blog for so long. That's what a long weekend will do to you!

We had a great 4th, relaxing a home and playing LEGO Indiana Jones on the XBOX. LOVE those LEGO games. I am not terribly eye-hand coordinated, so these are games I can actually finish, plus they don't have all the blood that most of the other games my husband plays has. A big Bonus!

I did start to add some new photos I've taken recently to etsy, and I'll be adding more over the next week or so. These are from my trip last week to Southern California:

Like the new watermark?

I'm also trying this out:
to give shoppers an idea of what the photo might look like hanging on your wall in a frame. What do you think? Does it work? Does it make you more interested in buying the photo? Leave a comment and let me know!

Don't forget the Christmas in July sale going on at my shop. 25% off on the new low prices on everything in that section!

Home again

It's good to be home. And with no big 4th of July plans, I'm just looking forward to hanging out at home and relaxing over the long weekend.

I've lowered my prices at A Wonderful World:

4x6 - $10.00
5x7 - $12.00
8x10-$15.00
11x14 - $25.00

And, to help you get started with that all important holiday shopping, I've got a Christmas in July sale on. Everything in the Christmas in July section is 25% off my new low prices. There are some great deals there. And you can find other etsy sellers with sales by searching for "christmasinjuly" all this month.

As part of the Etsy for Animals team, during the month of July, 100% of the proceeds of my photo "Escape" will be donated to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. All the featured EFA items this month are from the theme "Oh to be by the seaside."

I'm working on making some new photos available. Here's a sneak peek:

There's some flowers, tractors, New Orleans, and beach shots. Stop by the shop soon to see what's new.

I hope you all have a good weekend, and happy Independence Day to all you folks here in the U.S.A.!
